Working my dogs is my mission.
My mission is not to breed. When I first got a health tested purebred dog I had no intention of breeding her, I just wanted a sound companion. Over time I got two more dogs, neither of which I ever intended on breeding. But my ability to locate a breeder I felt was assisting the breed was dwindling, and the breeding dogs I encountered at competitions were not good representatives of the breed. When the male I adopted turned out to have luxating patella in both knees AND undescended testicles, I had enough. The more I learned about dogs the more I saw that some breeders were just not getting it right, they were utilizing archaic practices and chasing the dollar. If we want to keep the domestic dog we need to breed properly and with the all knowledge available. Luckily, some people still care about the dogs. They care about the function and form, and so there is hope. These wonderful and conscientious breeders will ensure that the health and functionality of the dogs we love remains intact for future generations.
I concluded that we needed better dogs and that I wanted to be part of the movement. I found a mentor for my favorite breeds (Poodle and Malinois, and undertook to learn all I could about canine genetics, training, breeding stock, and health. I am still taking in new scientific data on genetics and behavior and understanding its application. Another huge issue was puppy socialization, which was so often lacking. Puppies need to be exposed to different sights, sounds, smells and people in a safe environment. If not, their mental development is stunted and they lack the ability to adjust and thrive in the world. The dog fancy needs more small scale breeders that love the breed and put in the time, not more dogs produced from one kennel that saturates the gene pool, and ends up in pet stores where there is no regard for matching the right dog to the right family. Breeding is not my mission, my mission is to work and train my dogs. If I can better the breed overall then I will breed my dog. And I support fellow owners/breeders who share this philosophy of giving their dogs a full life. If and when I breed will be rare, and always in connection with more established and knowledgable breeders. If you are looking for a puppy I will try to steer you in the right direct, even if it isn't one of mine.
That said I will breed for competition homes. By that I mean that these dogs need a job. They are most certainly pets, meant to live in the home as part of the family. But they are also intelligent and driven dogs that need something to do. Be forewarned, they will need exercise and training. I am not responsible for your chewed up leather couch.

What to Expect:
1. Inquiries are taken at any time, if I know of a suitable breeding I will let you know.
2. If I am breeding, and you are interested, then I will send an application. You can also get the application from the menu bar under "Breeding"
3. Once I have your application, and the breeding plans are solidified, I will request a deposit.
4. When the breeding occurs, and there are confirmed puppies, the deposit is no longer refundable.
5. When the puppies are born you will receive updates regarding the puppies, and additional information about puppy care.
6. The puppies are evaluated since birth, but a temperament test is performed around 7 weeks. If there is not a suitable puppy for you in the litter I will give you the option of returning your deposit or rolling it to a future litter. I will also inquire with other breeders in the chance a suitable puppy is available elsewhere.
7. Puppies may be picked up between 8 and 12 weeks, at which time the rest of the fee is due in cash. No Checks.*
*if you need to pay by check then it will be due two weeks prior to pickup, or upon final evaluation at 7 weeks, which ever is earlier. Returned checks will incur an automatic forfeiture of your deposit and removal from the puppy list.
8. Puppies are to be picked up at my home. If there are several puppies going to the same place I can transport them at a cost of $200 each. If a puppy requires longer transport it must be arranged through ground transport. No puppy will fly unaccompanied. I am happy to recommend a ground transport if one services your area but I do not trust the lives of puppies to airline staff.
9. I endeavor to match puppies with the right family, therefore I reserve the right not to place a puppy if I feel that you are not a good match for the breed or a specific puppy personality. If I am unable to match a puppy with you I will return your deposit.
10. A puppy must be taken to your vet within 3 days of taking custody. If your vet, at that time, feels that the puppy has a genetic health issue affecting its quality of life I will take the puppy back, but it is your responsibility to return it will all medical documentation. Do not take your puppy to public parks or around other dogs until it is adequately vaccinated.
11. I DO NOT dock tails or dewclaws. The practice of docking and cropping is unnecessary and painful for the dog. A dog without a tail is often unable to communicate properly with other dogs. I do not condone the practice and will not subject my puppies to it.
Cost of puppies is between $1200-$2000 depending on if the breeding required AI or shipping. Puppies will come with health certificate (USDA if needed to fly in cabin), extensive socialization, crate training and potty training*, AKC registration^, and microchip. While I personally suggest minimal vaccines as per Dr. Jean Dodds, you should follow the advice of your own learned veterinarian. Over-vaccination can cause autoimmune disorders and will void a health guarantee.
*taking a puppy from its litter mates can cause stress. Be consistent and patient and your puppy will acclimate to your home with little incident. Puppies are trained to ring a bell in order to go outside to potty. During training they have an indoor grass area and wee-wee pads. A crate should not be used a punishment. So maintain good practices and your puppy will think of his crate as a safe place and the yard as his potty zone.
^Litters will have a theme to assist you in choosing a registered name. If you are unable to choose one I can help. Each puppy will go home with a limited registration. Full registration by prior agreement. Registration costs are included in puppy price.
